August 05, 2013 The Bay County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division conducted a traffic stop Thursday, August 1, 2013, on a vehicle in the Lynn Haven area which led to the arrest of three and the confiscation of methamphetamine and nearly $20,000 in cash.
Investigators searched the vehicle after a BCSO K9 dog trained to detect illegal narcotics alerted on the vehicle. Investigators found the meth and cash in the vehicle along with a money counter. Narcotics investigators arrested the driver, Kristy Brooks, DOB 4-9-76, of Loganville, Georgia, and charged her with Possession of Meth with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A search warrant was served later the same day on a home at 6308 Causeway Road, Panama City Beach. Brooks was known to frequent the home. Narcotics investigators found about a half pound of methamphetamine in ICE form and about $4700 in cash. Arrested at the residence were Richard Dwayne Short and Whitney Thoma. Short, DOB 7/4/65, of 6308 Causeway Road, Panama City Beach, was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Thoma, DOB 5/20/87, of 4903 W. 19th Court, was charged with Possession of methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office also found four handguns during a search warrant on August 1, 2013, at 6308 Causeway Road on Panama City Beach. Two of the handguns were found in the same drawer as the ICE.
