booksThe Bay County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous calls from Bay County residents concerned about the presence of door-to-door peddlers in their neighborhoods.
The BCSO has investigated several of these peddlers, and it does appear they have the proper license and are operating legally. To date, there has been only one arrest for Peddling without a License. On August 12, 2013, deputies arrested Lauri Luden, DOB 10-26-92, on a charge of Violation of Peddlers Ordinance. Luden approached a woman in the Derby Woods area to sell books and she was concerned when he began asking many questions about her children. Luden
did not have the proper license. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate each complaint.
Bay County Ordinance requires peddlers solicit only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and one-half hour before sunset. Deputies and investigators are reminding peddlers of this ordinance and will take enforcement action if it becomes necessary. Residents are encouraged to contact local law enforcement should they have any concerns or complaints about door-to-door peddlers.
