SUSPECT APPREHENDED IN Tennessee AS A RESULT OF A CHILD MOLESTATION INVESTIGATION IN GULF COUNTY

tennGulf County Sheriff Mike Harrison announces the arrest of Dennis J. Weaver (66) of Maryville, Tennessee, formally of Gulf County. On August 2, 2013, Gulf County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) Investigators began an investigation into child molestation allegations made against Weaver. During the investigation, GCSO Investigators conducted several undercover operations which revealed evidence that Weaver did commit the allegations made against him. On August 20, 2013, the US Marshals Service apprehended Weaver in Knoxville, Tennessee on arrest warrants obtained by the GCSO for one count of lewd or lascivious molestation on a child under 16 years of age, and three counts of lewd or lascivious battery on a child under 16 years of age. Both offenses are 2nd degree felonies punishable up to 15 years in prison for each count. Weaver is in custody in Tennessee awaiting extradition back to Gulf County.
