BCAC begins “Fat Cat Tuesday”

Throughout the month of September, beginning Sept. 3, Bay County Animal Control introduces “Fat Cat Tuesdays.”
Each Tuesday in September, all adult cats will be available for adoption at a reduced rate of $20.
“We are at capacity for cats,” Carol Treftz, Bay County Animal Control director, said, adding that BCAC sees a lot of adult, spayed or neutered cats as owner surrenders. “We’d like a family cat to go back to a family.”
Treftz said that each month Animal Control will do a reduced-rate adoption special. In October, all orange and black cats will be available at a rolled-back fee.
“We want to make having an animal affordable for everyone, and a house is not a home without a pet,” Treftz said. “Fat cats need a chance too.”
