Bay County Government Center to close WednesdayIn light of forecasts calling for icy roadways, freezing rain, sleet and possible snow beginning Tuesday evening and continuing into Wednesday, Bay County Commission Chairman Guy Tunnell has signed an emergency declaration for Bay County.
The Bay County Government Center will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 28. Essential personnel, including emergency dispatch, firefighters, emergency medical staff, Utilities and Roads and Bridges employees will report to work. Bay County administrators will continue to monitor the situation and make a determination at a later time whether to continue the closure into Thursday.
An emergency shelter at Deane Bozeman High School will open at 6 p.m. Wednesday. For more information about sheltering, call the Red Cross at 763-6587.
The Bay County Pier will close at dark Tuesday and will remain closed on Wednesday, and Harder’s Park will be closed Wednesday. Bay County Animal Control will also be closed to the public on Wednesday. The Bay County Landfill and Waste-to-Energy facility will be open Wednesday.
The Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Highway Patrol will make any determinations regarding the closure of state bridges – Hathaway, Dupont, Buchanan, etc.
