Mr. Virga, a candidate for the Fourteenth Circuit Judge’s race, qualified for the ballot in record time. According to a source at the Bay County Supervisor of Election’s Office, Gerard Virga turned in the 1,855 petitions needed to place him on the ballot and in record time since he declared his candidacy. While Mr. Virga, is the first candidate to qualify to be placed on the ballot, he and his campaign are still submitting petitions to the Supervisor of Elections offices throughout the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit.
This means that for the first time, on August 26, 2014, the voters of Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Jackson, Holmes and Washington County will have an opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice. Judge James Fensom, currently holds the position, after being appointed. Now that Mr. Virga has qualified for the ballot, Mr. Fenson will now have to seek re-election if he intends to keep his position.
Mr. Virga was raised in Bay County, Florida and was a graduate of Rutherford High School before attending the University of Florida and Cumberland School of Law. Mr. Virga has been a law clerk to a United States Senator and an Assistant Attorney General before returning home to Panama City, and opening his own practice, where he specializes in all areas of litigation and trial practice. Mr. Virga is married to Rachel Seaton-Virga, a local attorney in town and they have two children, Vivi and Gerard.
Mr. Virga would like to thank all those who signed his petitions and looks forward to meeting more of the voters in each of the six counties he will preside over if elected as your Judge on August 26, 2014.
