Bay County Animal Services will hold its monthly pet adoption event, in conjunction with the Panama City Woman’s Club, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday May 2 at the Bay County Government Center, located at 840 W. 11th St., Panama City. Dogs and cats will be on site and available for adoption at $25 each. The shelter accepts cash, credit cards and personal checks. Florida law requires that pets adopted from a shelter must be spayed or neutered. Animals that cannot be spayed or neutered due to age or compromised health will have to be spayed or neutered by an agreed-upon date. The adopter must provide a $100 deposit with the adoption of such an animal, which will be refunded when proof of the spay/neuter is provided to the shelter.
The $25 adoption fee includes:
· Voucher for spay or neuter surgery.
· All dogs and puppies 6 weeks and older are given a four-in-one vaccine and bordatella shot. All cats and kittens 6 weeks and older are given a five-in-one vaccine.
· An AVID® microchip.
· A CAPSTAR® tablet or flea shampoo.
· Strongid® Wormer.
· All dogs over six months will be given a heartworm screen, and all cats over six months are given a feline leukemia screen.
