Gulf County Sheriff Mike Harrison announces the arrest of Simon Samuel Hathaway (41). On Thursday, August 8th, at approximately 9:00 pm the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) received a 911 call from Tukedaways Tavern in Wewahitchka. The caller stated a subject was caught stealing items from several vehicles.
An investigation of the complaint revealed that a patron observed Hathaway inside a vehicle and when approached fled. The patron pursued Hathaway and brought him back to the parking lot to wait for deputies. Property from two separate vehicles was located in the back of Hathaway’s vehicle. Hathaway had active warrants from Bay County for Burglary of a Structure, Grand Theft, and Uttering Forged Instruments. Gulf County also had an active warrant for Violation of Probation for Burglary.
On Saturday, August 10th, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) notified the GCSO that the vehicle driven by Hathaway and used during the vehicle burglaries at Tukedaways Tavern was reported stolen to their agency. Based on information provided by the PCSO, the vehicle was stolen on Wednesday, August 7th.
Hathaway is held in the Gulf County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond for the new charges of Burglary, Grand Theft and providing False ID to a Law Enforcement Officer. He is held without bond for Violation of Probation and for the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
