Active Shooter – Aggravated Assault At 10:03 am today deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to the parking lot of the Walmart at 8101 S. John Young regarding shots fired and possible active shooter. When they arrived on scene they found a male subject on the ground near the entrance of the store with his arms and legs spread. This individual was pointed out by witnesses as the shooter. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the suspect identified as Rodney Drake Summers DOB 3/6/70, made claims that someone had stolen his bike and he was trying to get it back. He is said to have approached three victims and produced a firearm then discharging it, possibly one or two rounds into the ground and possibly one round in the air, no one was injured. It was after this that he is said to have been located on the ground in the doorway of the Walmart with his hands and feet spread and subsequently taken into custody. Summers is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, reckless display of a firearm, and aggravated assault.
