Narrative   ON THE ABOVE DATE AND TIME I RESPONDED TO 4524 GORE ROAD IN REFERENCE TO A DOMESTIC DISPUTE. UPON ARRIVAL I MADE CONTACT WITH AMY IVEY. AMY RAN OUTSIDE OF HER RESIDENCE SCREAMING THAT HER HUSBAND (JAMES LAMAR IVEY) AND SON (KYLE LAMAR IVEY) WERE BOTH SHOT. AMY STATED THAT JAMES WAS DEAD AND KYLE WAS CLINGING TO LIFE. AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE AMY WAS REMOVED FROM THE RESIDENCE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MYSELF, CORPORAL STRICKLAND, DEPUTY LEE AND DEPUTY WILLIAMS ALL CLEARED THE RESIDENCE. ONCE INSIDE THE RESIDENCE KYLE WAS LAYING ON HIS BACK AT THE FRONT DOOR. KYLE WAS STILL ALERT BUT UNABLE TO SPEAK. JAMES WAS LOCATED DIRECTLY ACROSS THE ROOM IN A BEDROOM DOORWAY ENTRANCE. JAMES WAS SLUMPED AND
UNRESPONSIVE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT JAMES WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE BY BAY COUNTY EMS. KYLE WAS TRANSPORTED TO BAY MEDICAL FOR HIS INJURIES. CORPORAL STRICKLAND FOLLOWED EMS TO BAY MEDICAL. FROM THE RESIDENCE. ONCE KYLE WAS TRANSPORTED TO BAY MEDICAL THE IMMEDIATE AREA WAS SECURED WITH CRIME SCENE TAPE AND A CRIME SCENE LOG WAS STARTED.
AMY STATED THAT THIS INCIDENT STARTED BECAUSE JAMES ACCUSED HER OF CHEATING. AMY ADVISED ME THAT KYLE ARRIVED HOME AND JAMES STARTED AN ARGUMENT BETWEEN THE TWO. AMY STATED THAT JAMES WAS GOING CRAZY
THROWING ITEMS AROUND THE HOUSE AND PUSHING OVER FURNITURE. WHEN AMY SAID SHE WAS CALLING THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE, JAMES MADE THE COMMENT THAT HE WOULD KILL HER. AMY SAID IN SELF DEFENSE KYLE ALSO GRABBED A GUN. IT SHOULD BE NOTED AT THIS TIME AMY RAN TO A NEIGHBORS RESIDENCE FOR HELP. AMY STATED AS SHE RAN SHE HEARD KYLE YELLING
“DONT DO IT DAD”. AMY STATED THAT SHE HEARD SEVERAL SHOTS WHILE ENROUTE FOR HELP.

October 4, 2014 The Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at 2:39 p.m. today in reference to a domestic dispute at 4524 Gore Road in the Allenton community. Deputies arriving found one man dead at the scene and another in need of medical attention. Both had been shot.
BCSO Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene responded to investigate the incident.
Investigators have learned that the couple living in the home began a domestic argument earlier in the afternoon. As the argument escalated, the wife took her cell phone and fled the home to hide in the woods and the husband, James Ivey, age 41, got into his truck and drove away. The couple’s son, Kyle Ivey, age 21, drove up to the home a short time later. Finding the home empty, he called his mother on his phone. Upon receiving his call, his mother came out of hiding and joined her son at the home. A short time later, James Ivey returned to the home and continued arguing with his wife.
As the argument once again escalated, the son, Kyle Ivey, placed himself between them. According to his mother, Kyle attempted several times to calm his father, James, and protect his mother. James responded by going into his room and getting a firearm and stating he was going to kill his wife. Kyle Ivey got his own firearm and two began to shoot at each other.
Mrs. Ivey rant to a neighbor’s home to have them call 911 and returned to administer to her son who had been shot in the abdomen but was still alive. James Ivey was dead at the scene. The body has been turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Kyle Ivey remains in a local hospital. The investigation continues.AS REPORTED BY BCSO Ruth Corley
